"THIS TIME NEXT YEAR"
The exhibition dates were on February 3, 2005 through
February 26, 2005
An exhibition featuring selected works from the fine arts graduate program at Parsons School of Design
Twelve graduate students from the MFA program at the Parsons School of Design will be on hand to exhibit their work
Organizing a show with a new generation of artists, about to come of age, seeking fresh eyes to redefine art was the intent of this curator.
I look to these graduate students to synthesize art historical references and imbue them with contemporary perspective.
I see a blurring of the lines between the disciplines. This is exemplified in the current show. A large red painting on wood sensuously slants across the floor questioning its own identity.
The twelve artists provide an example of cultural and ethnic diversity which adds dimension to their work. One is Cuban-American, one is a Jordanian, one is a Mormon from Utah, one, and one is from Sweden.
Parson’s School of Design was chosen because I consider it to be one of the finest MFA programs in the city. Don Porcaro, the chairman of the program says:
“One of the most exciting things about working with graduate students is the fact that they are at the beginning of their career. Their entire future lies in front of them, rife with endless possibilities”.
The artists are as follows:
Rosi Hayes
Simon Foreman
Denise Walker
Faten Kanaan
Malin Nilsson
Jessica Cannon
Natalia Zubko
Caridad Sola
Kate Reid
Jen Waters
Saraleah
Fordyce
Shanan Kurtz.
