SI BOK CHOI
Furniture as Art
July 7 - August 28, 2004
Si Bok Choi is a master at his craft. He attended
a well known school in Pusan , Korea where he studied modern design.
His work owes much to the Arts and Crafts movement
of William Morris and the Bauhaus School of Walter Gropius.
Choi takes Korean traditions and reinterprets
them in a more modern and global fashion.
As exhibited in this, his first exhibition
in the U.S at the Heidi Cho Gallery, we see Choi's usage of geometrical
design and his pursuit of functional beauty. The work is informed
by a sense of modernity and simple proportion.
